Eyes by Sheryl Raros

Eyes are beautiful
like diamonds and jewels.
Everytime you look at me,
Everything
pales.
I want you to take me away.
Eyes are fantastic,
and if they’re your
amber brown pools,
I’d love to drown in them.
Eyes are cynical.
Eyes are deceiving.
You’d think they’re deep.
Until brows, lids or beads, yours,
of course, crinkle at the corners.
Eyes are hypnotic.
Why do you do this to me?
Each time they smile
I start to think I’m a poet.
And then you say something,
and I’m not a poet anymore.
I’m a silly fool.
