The Essence of Me

I just spent a very lazy weekend at my sister’s house in Olongapo. I didn’t do anything except eat, watch TV, eat, play with Nicole, eat again, and sleep. I also did some catching up with my sister. She always updates me in the goings-on of our dysfunctional family.

I also had dinner at my Mom’s house. To tell you the truth, when Mae told me that my Mom was inviting me over, I really didn’t want to go. Then I remember a dream of mine where I saw my Mom lying in a coffin. So I decided to visit her. After all, it’s just for dinner. She cooked my favorite dish, too. We talked for some time, but nothing personal. I’m not ready to be close to her again, and I don’t think I’d ever be.

I miss home. I miss nanay, tatay, my dad, and even my two stress monkeys.  I miss my niece already. We played a game that I dubbed "laughing contest" where I’d laugh and my niece would match it with her own, fake laugh. When she laughs, I’d laugh again ‘coz she’s so funny! Smart kid, really. For a 10-month old baby, she watches Barney quietly like she understands it. Can’t wait for her to grow up.

I hope the blues don’t get me tomorrow. Been awfully down lately, even during the weekend.
